The city is known for its fogs and one of the best places to see it from is the opposite side of San Francisco Bay. Get there early enough and as the sun rises the Golden Gate Bridge will begin to peek out from the blanket and the fog becomes tinged pink with the rising sun.
Fisherman’s Wharf is another great place to visit. The activity there is frenetic with lots of attractions that can be accessed with a day pass. The area is now home to many upmarket restaurants and has changed from being a busy port where the bay’s fishermen used to land their catch into a major tourist destination.
For a surreal experience whilst in the city, take a trip into Chinatown. There you can really believe that you are in China with the number of Chinese people, Chinese restaurants and shops that abound in the centre which is the largest Chinese community outside the homeland.
